Pediatric Unit

The dedicated, inpatient pediatric unit at Hendricks Regional Health is led by our pediatric nurses and physicians. Our pediatric unit is a safe, comforting environment with private rooms for children who need to stay in the hospital.

Our team is recognized nationally for our high safety standards and patient experience, and our pediatric nurses are trained to care for both children and mothers. Our nurses are also supported 24/7 by inhouse pediatric hospitalists.

Conditions We Treat
We care for pediatric patients with a wide variety of medical conditions like: asthma, bronchiolitis, dehydration, croup, pneumonia, cellulitis, Failure to Thrive, infections or other illnesses.

Every aspect of our Pediatric Unit was designed to offer a sense of comfort and security to young patients and their families. Rooms can accommodate at least one parent per child, and a variety of amenities are available for parents and siblings. Even a private treatment room is available just across the hall for procedures such as lab draws.

All 10 rooms are private, and have the comforts of home for our pediatric patients – even their own "Choo-Choo Menu" with kid-friendly meal options.

Our family-centered care philosophy means our staff works closely together with parents and caregivers to make sure each child’s unique needs are met. The care team is led by our staff of pediatric hospitalists, who are pediatricians that care for children while they are admitted to the hospital. Our pediatric hospitalists care for children in the Pediatric Unit, Special Care Nursery, and other areas of the hospital to provide specialized treatment for our youngest patients. Pediatric hospitalists work with your regular pediatrician and other physicians and providers involved in your child’s care. A team of nurses with with specialized backgrounds and training in pediatrics support our pediatric hospitalists.
