President & Chief Executive Officer

D. Michelle Fenoughty, MD, MBA, FACHE, was named President & CEO of Hendricks Regional Health in July 2023. The nationally recognized health system in west central Indiana includes two acute care hospitals and six outpatient medical centers. Dr. Fenoughty is the fifth President & CEO to serve in this distinguished role at Hendricks and the first woman and physician to take the helm.
Dr. Fenoughty has a unique, 360-degree view of healthcare brought by her executive leadership experience and nearly three decades as a practicing women's health physician. She began her career with Hendricks in 2002 as an OB/GYN with Westside Physicians for Women. She has held positions of increasing responsibility in medical affairs, including chair of the OB/Pediatrics committee from 2004 to 2011 and serving as Chief of Staff from 2011 to 2015. That same year, she was named Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer.
A graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois, Dr. Fenoughty completed OB/GYN residency training at Indiana University in Indianapolis. She later earned a Business of Medicine Physician MBA through the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Dr. Fenoughty is a board-certified healthcare executive and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Community is paramount to Dr. Fenoughty and she is involved in numerous non-profit organizations. This includes serving on the boards of Sheltering Wings, the Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership, Leadership Hendricks County and YMCA of Greater Indianapolis. She is a member of the Hendricks County Women’s Giving Circle and the Leadership Hendricks County Class of 2025.
Dr. Fenoughty also brings her clinical experience and leadership to the Board of Directors of numerous regional and state organizations including Indiana Hospital Association, Suburban Health Organization, Suburban Care Collaborative Clinically Integrated Network, Suburban Health Organization Population Health Council and Suburban Home Health.
Dr. Fenoughty and her husband, Dr. Shawn Fenoughty, live in Hendricks County and are proud parents to Cullen and Erin.
