Danville, IN – For the seventh consecutive year, Hendricks Regional Health has been named a recipient of the Healthgrades 2014 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. According to Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals, Hendricks Regional Health was identified as providing outstanding performance in the delivery of positive experiences for patients during their hospital stay.
Healthgrades evaluated 3,582 hospitals that submitted patient surveys to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), covering admissions from March, 2012, through April, 2013. Of these hospitals, 3,000 hospitals met additional clinical quality requirements to be considered for the Healthgrades distinction. The top 15 percent of this group, or 447 hospitals, achieved the award; Hendricks Regional Health ranked in the top five percent in the nation for patient satisfaction.
“I’m proud to say that we are the only central Indiana hospital to receive the Outstanding Patient Experience Award from Healthgrades for seven years in a row,” says Hendricks Regional Health president & CEO, Kevin Speer. “We strive every day to live up to the Treat People Better philosophy that has been a part of our hospital’s culture for many years. It’s our goal to truly become an indispensable healthcare partner to our community by delivering safe, high-quality care, and a great overall patient experience.”
Healthgrades evaluated Hendricks Regional Health by surveying the hospital’s patients across ten distinct measures. Ranging from cleanliness and noise levels to factors such as pain management and responsiveness to patient’s needs, the measures also include whether a patient would recommend this hospital to friends or family. To be eligible for the award, Hendricks Regional Health met or exceeded both the clinical quality threshold for the award and the minimum number of Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys.
“As consumers are becoming more active participants in their healthcare, measured performance surrounding the patient experience at a hospital is an increasingly important consideration for patients in choosing where to receive their care,” said Evan Marks, Executive Vice President for Healthgrades. “Consumers can rest assured that those hospitals who have achieved the Healthgrades 2014 Patient Experience Award demonstrate a commitment to exceptional focus on the needs of the patient during their hospital stay.”
