Hendricks Regional Health Offering Pediatric Weight Management

Danville - Nationally, one in three young people are overweight. Many parents and healthcare professionals in Hendricks County have expressed concern that our community needs more resources for families struggling with weight issues. Hendricks Regional Health and the YMCA are presenting a pediatric weight management program, called STOP, for children ages eight to 18 that are struggling with weight.

STOP is a 12-week comprehensive pediatric weight management program focusing on helping children and their families make permanent lifestyle changes by improving food choices, modifying eating habits and engaging in more physical activity. Participants will meet on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 p.m., beginning August 13, at the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA. The sessions include both educational programs and physical activity for adults and children. Interested individuals are invited to attend ONE of the free orientation sessions in Conference Room 2 at the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA, 301 Satori Parkway, Avon. Orientation is encouraged but is not mandatory for participants. Program cost is $204 per family ($17.50 per week); cost for YMCA members is $153 per family ($12.75 per week).
