Aquatic Therapy Services

Aquatic Therapy Services

Aquatic therapy is a good option for patients with arthritis, chronic pain and other conditions that may limit movement. Patients that have had a stroke, back surgery or a joint replacement can especially benefit from aquatic therapy because water eases pressure on the body. Some of the benefits of doing physical therapy in the water include:
•    Improved range of motion
•    Reduced swelling and pain
•    Water resistance builds strength, and makes it easier to bear weight
•    Less fear of falling for patients with balance problems

Sometimes, aquatic therapy is used as part of a total therapy treatment plan. That’s because our warm water pool, heated to 92-94 degrees, provides a comfortable place to do exercises that may be difficult to perform on land. Patients often progress to doing therapy techniques outside of the pool, helping them recover to their fullest potential.

Hendricks Regional Health provides aquatic therapy at our
Plainfield campus. Traditional therapies are also available in our Plainfield location, which offers private treatment rooms along with a therapy pool.

Our aquatic therapy patients have a better experience because of the features of our HydroWorx® pool. It was especially designed with a treadmill, resistance jets that give deep tissue massage and a hydraulic chair lift to make is easy to enter the water.

Hendricks Regional Health provides comprehensive orthopedic and sports medicine services. Many on our therapy team are certified in their modality, a process that requires extensive training and testing.
