Helping our community live healthier means giving residents the tools they need to reach and maintain a healthy weight. Obesity affects quality of life, and is linked to conditions such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, depression, stroke and more.

Hendricks Regional Health partners with St. Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence. Candidates who qualify for bariatric surgery (those with a body mass index above 40, or BMI of 35 or above with one or more obesity-related health conditions) can have pre-and-post operative bariatric services, such as laboratory tests, performed at Hendricks Regional Health.

Many services are available to help you lose weight and successfully keep it off. Experienced dietitians offer nutrition counseling at our Danville Campus, as well as free community classes at the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA that gives tools for better nutrition – including how to plan and prepare more healthful meals.

Our wellness team works with several area employers to offer weight loss programs such as Great Shape, as well as other corporate health services.

Clinical health managers at the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA provides intensive one-on-one coaching and support for better nutrition, fitness and stress management.

Surgical candidates must undergo a number of diagnostic tests and procedures, and participate in a medically supervised weight loss program, before proceeding to surgery. The Hendricks Regional Health bariatric and weight loss program is overseen by the physicians of Hendricks Endocrinology and Diabetes Specialists.
