Lifesteps®

If you are looking to take charge of your health, diet and physical fitness, Hendricks Regional Health offers a weight management program, Lifesteps®, to help you on a path toward improved well-being.

Lifesteps® is a comprehensive 16-week program that requires participant dedication. Are you ready to make a commitment to losing weight? Check out our Weight Loss Readiness Quiz >

Lifesteps® provides opportunities to help adults successfully take gradual steps toward changing their eating and physical activity levels. Participants learn about managing food choices, metabolism and physical activity. Lifesteps® helps you develop the skills you need to manage your weight for the rest of your life.

Program Participants will:
  • Learn how to manage your food choices by looking at: what you eat, how much you eat, how often you eat, how you eat, and why you eat.
  • Learn the role of metabolism and physical activity in burning calories.
  • Examine you current lifestyle and identify steps you need to take in order to lose weight.
  • Apply information you learn in the program to develop a realistic eating style that includes the foods you like and the foods you need to stay healthy.
Participants must be willing/able to:
  • Keep a complete record of everything you eat and drink each day and the physical activity you do.
  • Become more physically active with the goal of doing 30 minutes of exercise you enjoy on most or all days.
  • Attend one session each week for the length of the program (usually 4 months).
  • Devote time to practicing new behaviors.
Weight loss of about one pound per week is desired for Lifesteps® participants. Even though most people would like a more rapid weight loss, a slow and steady progression allows folks to learn strategies that will help them maintain a desirable body weight for the rest of their lives.
