PTO: What You Should Know!
Beginning on December 23, 2017, Hendricks Regional Health will
switch from our traditional time leave policy to a Paid Time Off (PTO)
program. PTO
is a bank of time from which associates can use vacation and personal time
off from work. Simply put, it allows associates to determine when they
need to take time off. PTO gives you
the option of using the paid time off when you most need it—whether to care for
a sick child who can't go to school or take an extended vacation with
friends and family.
Practice Coordinators will be
providing more information regarding the program in the coming weeks, including
these highlights:
·
Current vacation, birthday and holiday
time-off balances will be transferred into a PTO balance on 12/23/17.
·
At HRH, it is important for all associates to
maintain a healthy work-life balance. We
want to encourage our associates to schedule time off from work each year to
relax, rejuvenate and heal. Moving
forward, there will be a limit to the number of hours you can bank for PTO. This balance will be 2.5 times of the associate’s
annual PTO earnings. For example,
suppose an associate’s annual PTO earnings total 24 days; their maximum PTO bank would be 60 days (24
x 2.5).
·
Once associates reach this balance, their PTO
earnings will cease until they go below this maximum balance. We encourage all of our associates to use
their earned PTO time each year to achieve a healthy, sustainable work-life
balance.
·
Employed physicians with large balances over
the new maximum for banked hours will receive individual letters outlining
options for receiving cash-out payments so they don’t lose all of their
currently banked time. These letters
will be presented in person to give time for individual questions regarding the
PTO Program.
Practitioners who currently receive a bank of sick time will continue to receive the same sick bank.
Over the next few months, you will see various communications
about the PTO Program. Please feel free
to contact Jinny Longbrake, Director of Human Resources, with any benefits question.
