Visitor Guidelines

Hendricks Regional Health has implemented visitor policy restrictions to keep our patients, staff and community safe. Here is helpful information about our visitation guidelines and what to expect if you or a family member is receiving care at one of our facilities.

HOSPITAL VISITOR GUIDELINES

Hospitalized patients may not receive visitors at this time. Exceptions will be made only in specific circumstances:

  • End-of-life care (2 people may be designated, only 1 visitor at a time)
  • Pediatric and Childbirth Center patients (2 people may be designated, only 1 visitor/day at a time)
  • Patients who require assistance for mobility, intellectual or cognitive impairments, or safety concerns (2 people may be designated, only 1 visitor/day at a time)

Under these exceptions, only one visitor is allowed per day. This individual must pass a mandatory health screening before entering.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT GUIDELINES

  • No visitors are allowed in the Emergency Departments
  • Drivers will be asked to remain in their cars

The below exceptions apply. With these exceptions, only 1 visitor is allowed. This individual must pass a mandatory health screen before entering.

  • Patients who require assistance for mobility, intellectual or cognitive impairments or safety concerns (1 visitor may be designated)

OUTPATIENT PROCEDURE GUIDELINES

  • Patients will be asked to come to their appointment/procedure alone
  • Patients undergoing procedures are required to have a driver for safe transportation
  • Patients will be dropped off by their driver; and drivers will be asked to remain on the Hendricks Regional Health campus
  • Driver’s contact information will be collected by staff to contact the driver on patient progress/disposition
  • Exceptions will only be accommodated for patients needing assistance as outlined (limited to one visitor/patient)

PHYSICIAN OFFICE GUIDELINES

  • Patients will be asked to come to their appointments alone
  • If the patient has a driver, the driver will be asked to remain in their car on the Hendricks Regional Health campus
  • Exceptions for physician offices will only be accommodated for patients needing assistance or a parent with a minor (limit to one visitor/patient)

Any Visitor Meeting Exception Requirements Must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be screened
  • Receive a Safety Passport (exception Emergency Department)
  • Receive a visitor Badge
  • Always wear a mask
  • Practice social distancing
  • Not gather in waiting rooms or public areas

COVID Testing FAQs

Who can be tested for COVID?

Any Indiana resident age 2 and older can be tested for COVID in our state, regardless of their symptoms. State operated sites test both symptomatic and asymptomatic people and do not charge for testing. Visit https://scheduling.coronavirus.in.gov/ to see where testing sites are located throughout the state.

How do I get tested for COVID?

If you are experiencing COVID symptoms, please contact your doctor’s office or one of our three Immediate Care Centers. COVID tests at Hendricks Regional Health facilities are ONLY performed with a provider’s order. COVID symptoms include coughing, fever, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, or muscle aches developed within the past 14 days.

Where can I get tested for COVID?

If you are not experiencing any COVID symptoms, but would like to be tested, you can visit one of the State’s COVID testing sites. As part of this program, Hendricks Regional Health and the Hendricks County Health Department have collaborated to add two testing sites within Hendricks County. For more information, call (317) 745-9368 or visit https://scheduling.coronavirus.in.gov/ to find the closest site and register online.

If you are experiencing COVID symptoms, we encourage you to contact your provider’s office. Your doctor may refer you to be tested at an HRH facility. COVID tests at Hendricks Regional Health facilities are ONLY performed with a provider’s order.

Is Hendricks Regional Health testing people for COVID?

We are currently testing patients experiencing COVID symptoms in designated Hendricks Regional Health facilities including our Immediate Care Centers. In addition, we are testing patients before they have a procedure or surgery at Hendricks Regional Health.

Does Hendricks Regional Health provide drive-thru COVID testing?

We currently offer APPOINTMENT-ONLY drive-thru COVID testing for patients referred by their Hendricks Regional Health provider.

The Indiana State Department of Health has established free drive-thru COVID testing at sites across the state. This testing is open to the general public, regardless of symptoms.
