About Event

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (including postpartum depression) can occur anytime during pregnancy and in the first year postpartum. Ten to 25 percent of mothers develop a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder, which makes it the most common maternal health complication. Symptoms may include:

Frequent crying or mood swings
Sleep or appetite changes
Feelings of loneliness, sadness, helplessness, worthlessness, or being trapped
Anger, frustration, irritability and fatigue
Anxiety, panic, excessive worry
Difficulty bonding with baby
Fear of being left alone with self or baby
Feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope
Lack of interest in life, feeling “numb” or indifferent

This group is for mothers experiencing any of these symptoms and is facilitated by trained nursing staff. Participants can share and give support to others as they learn to find wellness again.

The community is also encouraged to use the Hendricks Regional Health Warmline (Helpline) for mothers needing support. Call (317) 718-4018 and a staff member will return calls within 24 hours.
