An estimated 10 percent of athletes in contact sports such as football, hockey, and soccer suffer a concussion each season. Concussions are brain injuries caused by a bump, blow or jolt to the head. Indiana has recently passed concussion-related legislation aimed at keeping young athletes safe on and off the playing field. Learn about concussion injuries as well as the impact of the new law. This seminar is especially for coaches and parents of middle and high school athletes. Featured speaker will be Dr. Mark Booher of Hendricks Regional Health Sports Medicine. He is board-certified in both sports medicine and family medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the American College of Sports Medicine.
