Wound Care

A chronic wound can cause both physical and emotional suffering. The team at the Hendricks Regional Wound Healing Center can help begin your journey of healing and restore your quality of life.

Our Wound Healing Center is located at our Danville Hospital (enter at the West Entrance for closest proximity). For more information or to schedule an appointment, call us at (317) 718-7970. Our hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

There are no referrals necessary. Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance plans are accepted.

Healing Begins Here

Our multidisciplinary, integrated approach at Hendricks Regional Health offers you treatment plans that are customized to each patient’s needs and developed through collaboration among our team. Our expert staff is led by a board-certified wound and hyperbaric medicine physician and wound-certified program director.

We treat a wide range of non-healing wounds including:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers (bed sores)
  • Necrotic wounds
  • Chronic wounds
  • Venous and/or arterial wounds
  • Extremity wounds with edema
  • Atypical wounds
  • Non-healing surgical wounds

It is important not to delay treatment of wounds that do not heal. If these wounds are left untreated, it could result in further complications such as loss of mobility, severe infection, pain, hospitalization and potentially loss of an extremity.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

The Hendricks Regional Health Wound Healing Center now offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a medical treatment for specific conditions that can be used as one component of a wound care plan. When receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy, you’ll relax in a clear acrylic chamber filled with pressurized, 100 percent pure oxygen. This increases oxygen levels in the blood, which can enhance the body’s natural healing processes.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is approved for multiple medical conditions including:

  • Skin or bone infections that cause tissue death
  • Non-healing wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers
  • Radiation injuries including osteo-radio necrosis
  • Skin grafts or skin flaps at risk of tissue death
  • Indicated for sudden hearing and vision loss

Restoring Quality of Life

Your path to healing begins with a thorough diagnostic examination and review of your medical history with one of our physicians. We identify your wound type, its severity and the underlying cause. Then we develop a plan to treat your wound, using advanced treatments that improve healing.

The Hendricks Regional Wound Healing Center offers advanced wound treatment therapies including:

  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • Acoustic debridement using ultrasound-generated mist
  • Wound debridement
  • Advanced wound dressings
  • Compression therapies
  • Bio-engineered skin grafting
  • Total contact casting
  • Negative pressure therapy

Beyond treating the wound, we also educate you and your caregivers on ways to take proper care of your wound. We also guide you in lifestyle changes that could accelerate healing and prevent recurrences.
