For nearly half a century, Hendricks Regional Health has provided quality care and the latest medical technology for our community. We have grown into a multi-specialty health care organization – proudly independent, non-profit and community-based. Part of our mission is to provide vital health care services to all, regardless of ability to pay. In 2009 alone, the hospital gave $5 million in charitable care.
What it means to be non-profit
We are proud to be Hendricks County’s only nonprofit hospital. Unlike investor-owned (for-profit) hospitals, that means money left over after employees and bills have been paid is reinvested into programs and services. As a non-profit hospital, our stockholders are our community.
Studies have shown that this approach to care is beneficial to patients. For example, a Harvard Medical School report published in the Dec. 11, 2006 Archives of Internal Medicine found that overall, non-profit hospitals consistently performed better than for-profit hospitals when treating three common medical conditions: congestive heart failure, heart attack and pneumonia.
A happier, healthier community
We have long been at the forefront of community leadership. Many of our administrators serve as active members and leaders of philanthropic, religious and community service organizations. The hospital also supports many local non-profit organizations.
“In addition to the fiscal support we give to the community, we are beginning new wellness initiatives internally that will truly put us at the forefront of health and wellness leadership in our region,” said Dennis Dawes, President. “Our overall goal is a happier, healthier community.”
