Saturday, July 12, 2014

Danville - Beginning in August, Hendricks Regional Health is offering the comprehensive Lifesteps program that helps adults successfully change eating habits and increase physical activity. Participants learn about metabolism, managing food choices, examining their current lifestyle and identifying steps needed to lose weight. Lifesteps helps participants develop the necessary skills to manage weight for life.

Lifesteps is a comprehensive 13-step program that helps adults take gradual steps toward a healthier life. The slow and steady progression that is taught by Lifesteps (most participants lose about one pound per week) is the perfect program for people with diabetes or heart disease who have been cleared for exercise. The average weight loss for program participants is 15 pounds.

Interested individuals are invited to attend one orientation session at the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA, 301 Satori Parkway, Avon, on:
Participants for Lifesteps will be selected from the orientation group; the number of participants is limited. Those selected must commit to attending 16 consecutive meetings to complete the program.

There is no cost to attend an orientation session, but registration is required at hendricks.org. Cost for the 16-week Lifesteps program is $197; installment payments are available. Lifesteps classes get underway on August 12, meeting every Tuesday for 16 weeks, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA.
