Hendricks Regional Health Again Named a “Best Place to Work in Indiana”

Monday, March 10, 2014

Danville – Hendricks Regional Health has made the 2014 Best Places to Work in Indiana list, a statewide survey and awards program that identifies and honors the best employers in Indiana. The top companies in the state are determined through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys.

“This is the fourth time in five years that Hendricks Regional Health has been named to the Best Places to Work in Indiana list,” said Hendricks Regional Health President & Chief Executive Officer Kevin Speer. “We are thrilled to be distinguished as one of our state’s best employers. Our management team has worked very hard to ensure that our organization is an indispensable employer to our associates. We provide a positive work environment where our team can thrive and inspire each other to perform their best every day.”

This year saw the most number of applicants ever for the program, according to Indiana Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar.

“We have a lot of great employers in Indiana that are providing a productive, employee-friendly work environment that also leads to success for the organization,” Brinegar said.

Companies achieving this designation recognize how important it is for the success of a business to make employees feel valued.

“We want to support our most treasured assets – our associates,” Speer said. “We have established a culture of transparency that values communication from the top down. The efforts we have made over the past year have shown our associates that we value them as individuals and appreciate their hard work, dedication and feedback on how we can continue to enhance our care to those that we serve. This year we achieved the highest survey participation ever, demonstrating our associates’ engagement.”

Hendricks Regional Health leadership uses the survey program as a valuable tool to gain feedback from the organization’s associates. Hospital administration reviews the results closely to discover ways to implement positive changes, which is key in meeting our goal to be an indispensable employer.

“When our associates enjoy coming to work, we take better care of patients,” Speer said. “Compared to other hospitals, Hendricks Regional Health has low staff turnover and our patients benefit from that consistency of care. The result is better patient satisfaction and high-quality care. This is all part of how we Treat People Better.”

As the largest employer in Hendricks County (employing more than 1,600 people), the hospital was recognized in the large company category.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Indiana. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee engagement and satisfaction survey to measure the employee experience. Results were analyzed and categorized according to several core focus areas such as corporate culture, communications and work environment.

Hendricks Regional Health will be recognized at the 2014 Best Places to Work in Indiana Awards Dinner, presented in partnership with Hylant, at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. During the May 5 event, actual rankings for the companies will be announced.
