Mommy Store

Mommy Store

The Mommy Store began as an outreach program to young mothers in our community. These mothers, who have ranged in age from 15 to 23, attend the Young Mother Support Group facilitated by the Hendricks Regional Health prenatal education staff.

Young moms attending the support group meetings earn “mommy money” to be spent at the Mommy Store. The group focuses on discussing parenting topics, childcare issues, and health and nutrition, as well as open sharing. Guest speakers often come to discuss relevant topics such as teen violence in dating, college financial aid, smart shopping and more.

The Young Mother Support Group meets the second and fourth Friday of each month. The public is welcome.

The Mommy Store is located in Building One of Hendricks Regional Health Danville. It offers items such as clothing, shoes, diapers, wipes, toys and toiletries for mom. There are also shampoos, lotions, formula and books. A small pantry of baby food and formula is also available. All items in the Mommy Store are donated by the community.

How to volunteer
The Young Mother Support Group welcomes volunteers from the community to become involved by teaching a skill during a meeting. Also, groups such as Girl Scout troops or youth that have completed babysitting training are occasionally needed for childcare assistance.

How to donate
The Mommy Store is always in need of donated items. If you or your community organization would like to donate to the Mommy Store, click here to view/print a wish list of needed items.
