Since 1962, Hendricks Regional Health has put down roots in Hendricks County with a commitment to delivering high-quality, low-cost, patient-centered care. Our campuses and continuum of care have evolved—and continue to evolve—to better serve the growing needs of Western and Central Indiana. Our Emergency Departments in Danville and in Brownsburg, featuring convenient side-by-side emergency and immediate care, continue our mission in providing increased access to care close to home. When you choose us for emergency care, you are treated like family. That’s because we believe every person who walks through our doors deserves the highest level of urgency, comfort and care. Our patients can expect to be seen by a provider in twenty minutes or less.
Emergency Department vs. Immediate Care
When you’re seeking quick care, sometimes it can be difficult to determine whether or not you should go to the ER or visit Immediate or Urgent Care. Take a look below at the symptoms and conditions that typically result in a trip to one of these locations. If you are unsure or are experiencing a life-threatening situation at any time, dial 9-1-1 immediately.
Emergency Department
- Persistent chest pain
- Broken bone
- High fever or fever in an infant
- Stroke or heart attack symptoms
- Serious head injury or eye injury
- Accidental ingestion of foreign substance or object
- Severe pain, swelling or immobility in joint or muscle
- Joint or body part is immobile or appears misshapen
- Trouble breathing
- Excessive bleeding or cuts that require stitches
- Seizure
- Sudden, severe headache
- Severe allergic reaction or attack
Immediate or Urgent Care
- Colds, cough or flu
- Nausea or diarrhea
- Ear infection
- Migraine headache
- Treatment of minor allergic reactions or attacks
- Dizziness or dehydration
- Urinary tract infection
- Minor pain, sprains, or swelling, but still able to move
- Minor burns, cuts, lacerations or bites
- Rash, skin condition or pink eye
Our primary goal at the Emergency Department is to care for your acute medical needs. Click here to read what to expect at an ER visit. Whenever you visit the ER, it is important to schedule a follow-up appointment with your physician, as they know you and your medical history best and will be able to continue to monitor your health on a consistent basis.
Generally speaking, if you are in a significant amount of pain, the ER is the right place to go. For less severe illnesses, injuries and symptoms, it is best to contact your primary care physician, or visit Immediate or Urgent Care if you are not able to see your physician in a timely manner.
Our Emergency Services & Programs
Stroke & Telestroke 
Once a stroke is diagnosed, it’s a race against time. As a certified Primary Stroke Center, we are leaders in providing high-quality stroke and cardiovascular care to our community. For even earlier detection and treatment, our Telestroke Program connects physicians with our EMS partners to diagnose stroke patients while they are still in the ambulance. With this lifesaving program, patients can be treated faster than ever before.

Nurse Navigator
Our special Nurse Navigators help facilitate patient continuity of care after their discharge from our Emergency Departments. Nurse Navigators provide assistance in scheduling follow-up appointments with your physician or another specialist, scheduling additional tests and/or sending paperwork to appropriate parties.

Discharge Clinic
We initiated our Discharge Clinic so that we may help our patients stay at home after their visit. The clinic allows patients who qualify to be discharged from the Emergency Department and return within 48 to 72 hours to see a provider, to have reassessments—and ensure they are getting better and don’t end up back in the Emergency Department.

Inpatient Hospitalist
Emergency Department patients who are admitted to our hospital are often treated by a member of our team of experienced hospitalists. For added convenience, your hospitalist will send your discharge report to your primary care physician, as well as the results of any tests that were completed.

SANE Program
Our Emergency Departments are staffed with Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. These nurses are specially trained in forensic examinations for victims of abuse or violence. They work with local law enforcement to help care for these patients.
EMS Center of Education & EMT Training
At Hendricks Regional Health, we are proud and honored to work with our EMS partners. We are certified as both a basic and advanced life support supervising hospital and teaching.
Committed to Comprehensive Care
Hendricks Regional Health is proud to offer full-service emergency care. This means patients who visit our Emergency Departments will have access to the breadth of comprehensive services right inside our hospital, instead of transferring to other locations for further care. This helps our patients avoid the additional travel and costs associated with transferring to another facility.
Our first priority is and always will be providing patient-centered care. Whether you need cardiac rehabilitation after suffering a heart attack, or could benefit from physical therapy after a car accident, we are committed to staying connected to our community and offering complete, high-quality and convenient care to our patients.
