Foundation Scholarships

Encouraging health and wellness in our community is a vital part of our mission. That’s why the Hendricks Regional Health Foundation created a scholarship program in 1998 to encourage students in our area to consider careers in the rewarding field of health care. High school seniors residing in Hendricks County who plan to pursue health care careers are encouraged to apply. Hendricks County students who are members of the Class of 2011 should check this site again in January 2011 for application information.

Two scholarships worth $2,000 each are awarded. One of the scholarship awards is designated specifically for nursing, and this year is presented in honor of Donna Russell, a nurse who retired December 31, 2009, after more than 29 years of service at Hendricks Regional Health.

2010 Winners Announced
Congratulations to Amy Skwarcan from Danville High School and Josh Pierle from Tri-West High School, the 2010 scholarship recipients.

Amy will attend Purdue University in the fall to study nursing, and Josh will embark on studies at Indiana University that eventually will lead him to medical school to be a team doctor.

2009 scholarship recipients Kelsey Shephard of Plainfield (on left) Jenna Myers of Avon (right) are both nursing students.
A previous winner writes, "I just want to take some time to thank you again for the opportunity to represent Hendricks Regional Health Foundation as a scholarship recipient!  I can't believe how quickly my freshman year of college went by. It has been very enjoyable, and I have loved the opportunities I've received in the school of nursing! The scholarship you presented to me is greatly appreciated and definitely helped me reach my goals this first year of school. Thanks again so much for the honor."
