Childbirth Patient Story
The moment Lacey Ring-Verbik of Avon walked into the Childbirth Center, she knew she was exactly where she belonged. “They knew I was coming and were waiting for me,” she said. “The nurses just swooped in and got me all settled into this beautiful room.” Lacey and her husband, Robert, had their first child, Neva, in Missouri. “They were two completely different experiences, especially for my husband,” she said. “He was five hundred times more relaxed this time, mainly because of the nurses and accommodations.”
But Lacey herself was most impressed with how her nurses took the time to connect with her personally. “They talked to me about their own personal experiences with childbirth and breastfeeding, and visited with us after Karsten was born.”
As a bonus to her nursing care, a massage therapist stayed with Lacey to help her meet her goal of a drug-free birth. “She came in at noon and stayed with me, for the most part, until 8 p.m. that night. I couldn’t believe how loving and committed she was.” Massage therapy is a complimentary service to moms at Hendricks Regional Health.
